Covered in glitter and crumbs. Waking up to maracas and fairy wings. Pockets full of rubber bands and dandelions. Buried under book piles. Dirty hands with homemade kombucha. Coffee in the rain. Waiting for that sacred scrap of silence.

Spring and the Cherry Tree
So when Bruin decided to give Unity a cherry tree, he was unknowingly continuing a family tradition. When Polly was born, her dad's friend Tad gave her a crabapple tree that bloomed on her birthday. We're glad to share this fine idea with Unity and excited about the cherries! Chris, Bruin and Lyndsey helped plant the tree and we decided it was the perfect resting place for the placenta.

Living with a party girl
For someone slightly less than two weeks old, Unity has a very active night life. She's often up until all the clubs close, and then wants to go to the after party until the sun comes up. Needless to say we are all trying to keep up with all this party energy.
Hey Guys! They're playing my song!
Don't worry, at least some of these photos were staged.

lots of catching up to do. Unity lost her cord stump, we all went out to a coffee shop for a whole hour, and there have been
many fashionable outfit changes. Thanks again for all of the love and support.

Some more photos
Hi everyone! Thanks for all the kind words and thoughs you've been sending us over the last few days. It's so nice to hear all the support from everyone.
We've been hanging in there, having the ups and downs of being parents for the last two days. We're sleep deprived and a little sore. Polly is learning the difficulties of breast feeding, which is more than a little painful and harder than you would think. Chris is learning how to change a diaper. And Cindy has been amazingly wonderful: helping us with laundry, watching Unity so we can get some sleep, providing advice, experience and love.
Here are a few pictures from the last few days that I thought you all might enjoy. More to come:

Presenting Miss Unity Jane
Please join us in welcoming Unity Jane to the world. She was born on Tuesday March 6th, 2007 at 5:52 PM at the Community Birth & Family Center in Seattle, WA. Weighing in a 7lbs, 1oz she measures 19 inches long and is amazing and beautiful. Unity was delivered by our midwife Sally Averson and her assistant Amanda.
Polly is doing well and we are now at home with Grandma Cindy. Our good friend, the amazing Megan Bott is on call to help us here. We are pretty tired but will hopefully be getting some rest now.
Here are a few pictures from the birth:
