Covered in glitter and crumbs. Waking up to maracas and fairy wings. Pockets full of rubber bands and dandelions. Buried under book piles. Dirty hands with homemade kombucha. Coffee in the rain. Waiting for that sacred scrap of silence.

Long run
Oh man. We are getting over a long run of illness. Unity missed almost a week of school. She read all the books and watched all the movies and played all of the games and made construction paper creations and then we just ran out of things to do. It's lucky her fever finally broke. The rest of us are just washing our hands and taking our Vitamin C and hoping for the best.
It's been super pretty out though, and we've had some good chalk drawing sessions, and hanging out outside. There were also a few (rare) thunderstorms. One night I was at a friend's house that overlooks Lake Washington and we got to see the lightening flaring over the lake. Amazing.

Spring cookies
The flowers and buds are starting, giving us the sense that spring is really here. Just in time for a certain big kid's birthday on Friday.
My book stack is never ending of course, but the above picture is what I'm working on right now.
And, we are living and breathing Girl Scout cookies. We had huge piles of them all over the house, that are slowly diminishing as we deliver. It's fun and a good learning experience for Unity, but it's a little exhausting. Still, we are almost done, and Unity's had a lot of practice talking to people and making change and other good skills.

Planting
We've had a string of gorgeous days lately which has led to lots of garden time. Yesterday I planted carrots, spinach, kale, beets, squash, cucumbers and herbs. Phew. I am glad I got it all in the ground though.
The kids have been helping with pulling weeds and especially the vines that take over fences and really, pretty much everything if we'd let them. They get satisfaction from yanking all those climbing twining stalks.
The peas are coming along and so is the cauliflower. Always an exciting time, that spring planting.

Kubota Gardens
We spent most of the day exploring the beautiful Kubota Gardens. Brixton and Baird pretended to be space explorers and knights of the castle, while climbing over bridges and rocks and branches. Once again, I feel so lucky to have this beautiful place so close to us.

We got the beat
What to do on a sunny afternoon after school is out, but to blast the Go-Go's and dance on the front porch.

Out the window
I'm trying to be faithful to my scheduling writing time. But it's hard when out of every window all the signs of Spring are calling me.
