Covered in glitter and crumbs. Waking up to maracas and fairy wings. Pockets full of rubber bands and dandelions. Buried under book piles. Dirty hands with homemade kombucha. Coffee in the rain. Waiting for that sacred scrap of silence.

End of December
We just returned from the loveliest trip to Chicago. My parents were very generous hosts and we had a week full of relatives and old friends, cousins, dogs, favorite books, wearing heritage outfits, amazing light displays, and just a fantastic Christmas.
I'm so thankful we had this chance to be together and relish this time, of light coming back, of family gathering, of familiar places.

A fragile thread, the powerful life urge
My cousin Ryan recently had a baby, little Ryan Joseph. He was born over three months prematurely and is living in the NICU until his due date in May.
My heart goes out to them. Every day I find myself remember how hard and strange that newborn time is, and then to have such a series of complications and medical issues. He's doing well though. Strong and getting stronger. The urge to live is so powerful, even in someone so small.
My cousin Kristi is going to be walking in a fundraiser for March of Dimes at the end of April.
More info here.
and you can check up on little Ryan here.

Frankie and Kristine come to visit!
Frankie and Aunt Kristine came to visit us this weekend and we had a blast. We went to parks and ate yummy food and had a playdate with Hiram and Cooper and did lots and lots of playing. Awesome!
