Family time

My parents just left and we already miss them so much. We had such a great visit with lots of reading and drawing and just hanging out with the grandparents.

Brixton was able to share his new reading skills and we continued the family tradition of marking his height on the wall. Chris forgot what year it was so it's a little messy but it's still there- man, they grow!

We stumbled across a collection of antique fire engines in Ballard and the owner was nice enough to give us a tour of his warehouse. It was pretty amazing to see the old engines and all in pristine condition.

We are so thankful that they got to help us celebrate Brixton's birthday and we are looking forward to the next time when we can be together again.

This weekend was nice, a little bit calmer than our last which was needed. The kids had swimming and girl scouts and that was it. The rest of the time we just hung out, knitting and playing the same games over and over. Brixton loves playing "animal shelter" these days which involves him as a kitty at the shelter and you pick him out and take him home. Then he goes back to the shelter and you pick him out and take him home.

Unity has gotten into reading the Magic Treehouse books and has been racing through them. It's so fun to see her get so wrapped up in a book.

Chris is hanging in there too, doing his physical therapy and getting ready to take his wheelchair to work. We are doing ok. And I'm so thankful for that.

a little update

Chris has been home for about a week now.He is doing very well. We have a hospital bed and a wheelchair for him in the basement and he has been able to get himself around. He has been doing physical therapy and
he has even taken the city bus to work twice. It takes him about an hour and a half
but he likes the chance to get out of the house.

At our last doctor visit, they removed his arm cast and gave him a brace. The doctor said that Chris was healing well and if it continues at this rate, he may be able to be on crutches around Thanksgiving. This is really amazing, since I had expected it to take much longer.

Grandma Cindy is here and staying with us for a bit. She is basically co-parenting with me right now which is a huge relief and very helpful.

We continue to be showered with love and support and meals and help, from near and far.

I have such immense gratitude, to know such good people.
