Covered in glitter and crumbs. Waking up to maracas and fairy wings. Pockets full of rubber bands and dandelions. Buried under book piles. Dirty hands with homemade kombucha. Coffee in the rain. Waiting for that sacred scrap of silence.

a placenta in a pear tree
It's been warm enough lately for us to plant Brixton's placenta tree. We got him a pear tree with four types of pear grafted on it. Hopefully the pears will be fruiting near his birthday in years to come.

cupcakes
We decorated cupcakes for a momrising.org event with Hiram, Josephine, Desmond and their mamas. Thanks to Oma for the pictures.

Pigtails
Except for her bangs, which I cut myself occasionally, we've never cut Unity's hair. Now it's getting quite long and she's having fun with pigtails and barrettes.

Joey, Brix and Dez
Anya, Oma and I were all in grad school together, and now we have kids just a few months apart. Josephine was born in September, Brixton in October and Desmond in November. Here we are hanging at the local kid-friendly coffeehouse, with big kid Unity.

It fits!
When Brixton was born, Grandma Cindy gave him a beautiful sweater and blanket that she crocheted. The blanket we could use right away but the sweater was a little big. Well, not anymore!

an update
Sorry we've been quiet around here lately. I've had some technical difficulties with blogspot, as well as being overwhelmed with preschool applications and the dismal news globally and nationally. So, here's an update- we're still here!

xmas part 3
This xmas was a good mix of old traditions and new memories being made. Unity received a lovely tea set from Great Great Grandma Tillie. Such fun to arrange. Unity also played with the music box that my neighbor Rosemary gave me when I was a child- still works! It was also so wonderful to see Grandpa Bill meet Brixton for the first time and to enjoy playing with him.
