But still my baby, always.
Covered in glitter and crumbs. Waking up to maracas and fairy wings. Pockets full of rubber bands and dandelions. Buried under book piles. Dirty hands with homemade kombucha. Coffee in the rain. Waiting for that sacred scrap of silence.

The Big 1
Chris says "remember when you used to fit on my arm?" One year ago Unity decided she didn't want to wait anymore, she had to see what this world was all about. And so here we are, after more changes than seem believable, watching this strong opinionated person bloom before our eyes. It's hard to remember the little one who couldn't crawl or babble, who used to wake us every two hours. And now the little one is on the move.
But still my baby, always.

Unity's favorite foods
Unity loves Ethiopian food, especially when she's sharing with the Real Change crew. But she really loves toes for breakfast!

The verbal weekend
So, Christopher and I went to Portland, and Unity hung out with the beyond fantastic Megan B. ALL WEEKEND! Chris and I had great food, spent 3 plus hours in Powells and enjoyed lots o sunshine. Unity chased Megan's dog and cat around, went for walks and seemed barely phased to see her parents again. and we were all so relaxed that we forgot to take a single picture. Not even the dog remembered.
But-
Last Tuesday, Unity took her first few stumbly shaking steps, and then promptly collapsed. You heard it here first.

Unity and Hiram
The other night some mamas got together for drinks and discussion. Chris took this opportunity to hang out with some other papas and kids. Here's Unity and Hiram. Also if you're wondering what's going on in the last picture- Unity is using the bottle and nothing else to support her weight.
