a tri-party agreement

Today was an important milestone in the history of baby summits. Josephine (9 months) Brixton (8 months) and Desmond (7 months) converged. Many toys were chewed and it was concluded that teething is one of todays most important issues. In other news, Seattle has finally FINALLY reached the temperature of 75 degrees. Unity celebrated on a swing.

New tricks

Clapping!

Some outfits

Unity loves getting dressed. I sometimes have to remind her, as the person who does her laundry, that we really don't approved of three fashion changes per day. Here are some recent outfits, all self-chosen, that she's rocked.

Vashon

We took advantage of the long weekend and took a day trip to Vashon Island. We had a nice lunch and took a walk on the beach. (You can see our attempts to fit all four of us in one shot.)

Featuring Brixton

Brixton, also known as Bricky, Brixie, or B. Monkey. (Unity tries to call him "Hammy" but I'm not endorsing it.) He wears his sisters old hand-me-downs, but he's just doing his own Mr. Mellow thing. Growing a tooth, eating carrots. Falling asleep at a busy restaurant. All in a days play.

siblings

"People talk about the happy quiet that can exist between two loves, but this, too, was great; sitting between his sister and his brother, saying nothing, eating. Before the world existed, before it was populated, and before there were wars and jobs and colleges and movies and clothes and opinions and foreign travel -- before all of these things there had been only one person, Zora, and only one place: a tent in the living room made from chairs and bed-sheets. After a few years, Levi arrived; space was made for him; it was as if he had always been. Looking at them both now, Jerome found himself in their finger joints and neat conch ears, in their long legs and wild curls. He heard himself in their partial lisps caused by puffy tongues vibrating against slightly noticeable buckteeth. He did not consider if or how or why he loved them. They were just love: they were the first evidence he ever had of love, and they would be the last confirmation of love when everything else fell away."

So far behind...

So I have a lot of catching up to do. I guess that's what happens when you have a birthday, and then mother's day, and a birthday party, and then another birthday and then another. And then the baby starts sitting up. So here are some shots of Zoren's party, where Chris gave Cooper a lift, the kids found some _fascinating_ ants, and Brixton sat up all by himself!

Visiting with Grandma Ann

We had a wonderful visit with Grandma Ann last week.  Unfortunately, we didn't take many pictures at all, but this one is pretty illustrative of how the week went. Grandma Ann had a small shadow following her around wherever she went and asking lots of questions.  What a wonderful time!
