Spring Kids are 4!

and yes, they still fit on the couch, when they're not wrestling all the pillows off. Although we did find ourselves saying "This room seems smaller this year..." So cheers to the Spring Kids who have known each other all their lives- Cooper, Finn, Hiram, Reuben, Sophie, Unity and Zoren. Brixton got to come too, and Finn's little sister Zivia, age seven months. And cheers to their parents who have helped each other through four (!) years of learning how to be a parent.

cooking, cleaning, mirrors

And here you see Unity enjoying some of her birthday presents- she likes both really cooking and playing restaurant. This morning she asked me could she please clean the floor with a sponge. I swear, I am not making this up! She really really please wanted to. So I um gave her a sponge and while she happily crawled around cleaning I had to take a photo for posterity. Also, Brixton and I have fun goofing in the mirror.

Things have been kind of quiet around here lately. We're still reeling from all the global catastrophe ( I don't know how you hold an entire country in the light but I'm trying) and riding another wave of minor yet annoying illnesses in our family. So, we haven't been going out much and we've been trying not to share our germs with our friends. Chris stayed home from work today to help me out ( thank gracious!) and he and Brixton bonded over some Black Sabbath. Then you have Unity and Brixton, where B is making his "cheese" face, and siblings sharing secrets at the breakfast table. Brixton looks pretty blase so Unity's secret must not be that scandalous.

singer/songwriter

There's been a lot of buzz these days about the debut album from singer/songwriter Unity Jayjee. The album, titled "Rain in My Hair" contains both haunting melodic ballads as well a few catchy sing-along tunes. This young ukulele player seems to be gathering a following already. Try to catch her on tour this fall.

more birthday photos

Her Entrance

It's hard to believe but she's four. Somehow my arty chatty brave mercurial life-changing love is four. Since the very beginning, Unity has made her entrance on her own terms- teaching us who she us and showing us how to be her parents. It's been an amazing four years darling.

We were able to celebrate with Grandma Cindy and Grandpa Bill, and have a little party with some of Unity's school friends- Sadie, Quinn, Alice and Jaden. The kids (and parents and grandparents) had a blast. Good start to being a big kid.
